(Crankers.com) Jimmy Kimmel needed a reason for ABC to pull the plug and they got one. Kimmel’s ratings were tremendously bad, and the comments regarding Charlie Kirk were just enough for the Disney-owned ABC to send him packing.
Nielsen reported that Jimmy Kimme’s show was so bad, it only had 1.1 million TOTAL viewers in all of August. That was a 43% decline from January where he had 1.95 million. To put it in reference, there are websites run by people no one’s ever heard of that get more views PER DAY than Jimmy would get all month. Nielsen further reported that ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ had the ‘weakest showing of the year’ according to NY Post.
Advertisers really like the 18-49 demographic and Jimmy Kimmel only got 129k viewers in August. That is really, really low.
Jimmy Kimmel’s salary is supposedly $15-16 million per year, but if he gets bonuses, then he could reach $20 million. That seems like a lot of money per episode, but without the viewers to make money on advertising, then it seems like ABC would be losing money on Kimmel’s show.
