(Crankers) Alec Baldwin is facing criticism for his interview with alleged abuser Woody Allen while he remains accused of accidentally shooting his late “Rust” colleague Halyna Hutchins.

“Like Baldwin’s career isn’t already hanging by a thread. What a dumb way to completely destroy it,” one person tweeted on July 12th ahead of Baldwin, 64, and Allen, 86, going live on Instagram.

“Alec Baldwin, who shot and killed his employee 8 month ago, is live on instagram now with Woody Allen who is married to his daughter,” journalist Emily Miller noted.

“Remember when Alec Baldwin literally killed a crew member on a set last year, faced zero repercussions, and is now… promoting a special interview he’s doing with… Woody Allen? That’s literally all you need to know about the film&TV industry,” another wrote.

“Alec Baldwin announces an interview with Woody Allen. Topics to include the murdering of innocent people and child molestation,” a fourth Twitter user satirically commented.

The previously mentioned tweets resonated with several people online who found it quite ironic that Baldwin would agree to meet with a controversial figure in the midst of his own scandal, said a report .

Allen’s adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, accused him of sexually assaulting her in their family’s attic in 1992 when she was seven years old. The famed director described those claims that resurfaced in 2021 due to the HBO series “Allen v. Farrow” as “categorically false.”

In addition to Dylan’s allegations, the marriage of Allen to Soon-Yi Previn, the adopted daughter of Allen’s ex – Mia Farrow, has also been a source of scrutiny for the Annie Hall star.

Meantime, Baldwin is still in the midst of an ongoing investigation into Hutchins’ Oct. 21, 2021 shooting on the set of “Rust” in New Mexico after the actor fired a loaded gun at the cinematographer. He said he “did not pull the trigger.”

“I don’t think anybody’s off the hook when it comes to criminal charges,” Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza stated in April. “I’ve said this before: I think there was complacency on the set. There was disorganization and a degree of negligence — whether that rises to a criminal level, that will be up to the district attorney.”

Nevertheless, Baldwin has remained firm in his defense of Allen as he faces his own backlash.

In an Instagram post announcing his interview with the filmmaker, he wrote, “Let me preface this by stating that I have ZERO INTEREST in anyone’s judgments and sanctimonious posts here.

“I am OBVIOUSLY someone who has my own set of beliefs and COULD NOT CARE LESS about anyone else’s speculation. If you believe that a trial should be conducted by way of an HBO documentary, that’s your issue.”

During their Instagram Live interview, Baldwin and Allen discussed the latter’s book “Zero Gravity,” and the “A Rainy Day In New York” director even implied that he may soon retire from film production.

“I’ll probably make at least one more movie,” the Oscar winner told Baldwin. “A lot of the thrill is gone.”
