After President Biden called for a bipartisan Senate deal to be passed to fix the unprecedented levels of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border, Elon Musk, the owner of SpaceX, Tesla, and the social media platform X, has shot back at the president, saying that “No laws need to be passed” – essentially reminding the failing president that they’re doing a bad job and can fix the border issue NOW if they really wanted to.
A statement was released recently by the president in which he said that the legislation being negotiated would give the president a new emergency authority, where “when it [border] becomes overwhelmed” he would have the right to shut down the border, and that he would use that authority on the first day he signs the bill into law, claiming that “this is the way to do it,” for everyone who is demanding tougher border control, “If you’re serious about the border crisis, pass a bipartisan bill and I will sign it,” added Biden in the statement.
This statement was posted on the president’s X account, and the owner of the platform, Elon Musk quickly shot back at the statement saying that no laws need to be passed, claiming that “all that is needed is an executive order to require proof before granting an asylum hearing,” concluding with “that is how it used to be,” reported Fox News.
David Sacks, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor wrote that the border is broken “because this administration refuses to enforce the laws we already have,” and Musk strongly agreed with him and responded by simply writing “exactly.” Another post by Sacks on which Musk also agreed was when the entrepreneur posted a video of hundreds of illegal immigrants descending on the border and describing Biden’s current policy as being “open borders,” to which Musk wrote: “That is undeniable at this point.” The world’s richest person also previously argued that gaining asylum status after illegally crossing the southern border is as easy as a Google search.
Having previously voiced his support for a wall at the southern border, Musk appeared to shift his views on the need for a structure of that kind, writing on his X platform that “building a wall is a red herring,” adding that there is no need for a wall to fix this current situation and that the Border Patrol has clear instructions to facilitate illegal entry at scale into the United States. “The fundamental problem is that anyone can claim asylum with zero proof, which means all of Earth can come to America,” the billionaire added.
In September, Musk went to visit the southern border in Eagle Pass, Texas, and made a live stream video of what he saw there, which gave people a closer look into the current migrant crisis. Only a few months later, in December, the highest interactions between border patrol and migrants for a single month in U.S. history were recorded, so it goes without saying that this crisis is getting out of hand of the authorities day by day. Since then, more people have visited the border to see what a disaster it is. Even Dr. Phil went to the border and called out Joe Biden.
