(Crankers) A rideshare driver’s quick response may have saved a passenger’s life after police say the woman’s husband repeatedly rammed the car in a domestic violence-related attack earlier this month in Vancouver, Washington.
The incident happened around 5 a.m. on Nov. 15, shortly after the driver picked up a passenger from work. According to Vancouver Police, another vehicle began chasing them and “aggressively pursuing and intentionally ramming” the rideshare car. Officers say the suspect slammed into the vehicle four times, collapsing the rear end and nearly forcing it off a 20-foot embankment.
Despite the damage, the rideshare driver managed to escape and drove directly to the Vancouver Police west precinct, where officers immediately assisted. The driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police identified the suspect as the passenger’s husband and say detectives have located the vehicle involved but are still working to find him. Investigators are coordinating with other agencies to ensure the safety of everyone connected to the case.
“We want to acknowledge the incredible courage and quick thinking of the rideshare driver, whose actions likely prevented a tragedy,” Vancouver Police said in a statement.
“We are committed to protecting victims, supporting survivors, and holding offenders accountable.”
