Country singer Chris Stapleton, originally from Kentucky, took his time to savor the moment on Thursday evening after winning a prestigious country music award. He was using a leaf blower to help clean up all the confetti that hit the ground after all the fun and celebrations during the ACM 2023 awards.
The 45-year-old artist, known for his hit “Tennessee Whisky,” was crowned entertainer of the year at the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards. The event, co-hosted by Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton, took place at the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas.
According to Billboard, this accolade comes seven years after Stapleton, the son of a coal miner, won the new male artist of the year award. Throughout his career, Stapleton has garnered three ACM male artist of the year awards, three album of the year wins, and even a songwriter of the decade trophy, reported The Blaze.
In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Stapleton, known for his humility and down-to-earth nature, expressed his disbelief at receiving the honor, stating, “By any measure, I don’t deserve this. There are so many other incredible artists in this category. I just get up there every night, play music, write songs, and make records. I never imagined I would be someone who wins this award.”
Grateful for the support he received, Stapleton extended his thanks to numerous individuals who contributed to his success, including his wife. However, he made a special mention of his children, acknowledging the sacrifices they make by giving up their time with him and his wife, adding, “This is for them.”
It was evident that Stapleton, despite his achievements, remained grounded and appreciative of the people who have played a role in his musical journey.
