Customers of the Chick-fil-A restaurant located in Tifton, Georgia, were given notice of a menu change for the spring season. The side salad, a popular item frequently ordered alongside chicken nuggets, will no longer be available at the restaurant. The salad, composed of mixed greens with shredded Monterey Jack, Cheddar, red peppers, and tomatoes, will be served for the last time on April 3, as indicated in a printed flier.
The caption of the post announcing the discontinuation of the side salad at Chick-fil-A in Tifton, Georgia, explained that the restaurant wanted to refresh its menu for spring cleaning. The post includes an image of the flier titled “A Fond Farewell.” As expected, customers expressed disappointment and sadness online as the side salad was a beloved item for many.
On Twitter, a user expressed their disappointment over the discontinuation of the Chick-fil-A side salad, which they claimed to order every time. Another user on Facebook also expressed their love for the side salad and pleaded with the restaurant not to remove it from the menu. A Reddit user, in a post titled “RIP Side Salad,” also shared their dismay over the news and revealed that the side salad was a regular item in their daily order. These reactions indicate that the news of the salad’s discontinuation was widely discussed on various social media platforms, said the news report.
It has been confirmed that the discontinuation of the Chick-fil-A side salad applies to all menus across the chain in the US. Customers who order the salad before April 3 will be informed of the upcoming change via fliers included with their order, as seen on social media. A representative from Chick-fil-A, Inc. acknowledged the decision to discontinue the salad, explaining that sometimes difficult decisions have to be made to simplify the menu and ensure the quality of food and service. As a result, starting from April 3, the side salad will no longer be available in any US Chick-fil-A restaurants.
According to Chick-fil-A, Inc., customers who are looking for a green option to replace the discontinued side salad can now opt for a large Kale Crunch Side, which has been added to the menu. The company also encourages customers to check out its website or the Chick-fil-A App to view the updated menu.
Chick-fil-A’s rewards program, known as Chick-fil-A One, is undergoing changes. This tiered membership program enables customers to earn points with each qualifying purchase. The company reports that the program has attracted a staggering 50 million members since its launch, and the rewards offered by the program require a significant amount of funding.
According to sources, all Chick-fil-A One members received an email on March 14 regarding updates to the program that will take effect in April, including an increase in points for some items. The email sparked strong reactions online, with some users attributing the changes to the current state of the economy. The company reportedly sent out the notification in advance to give members the opportunity to redeem their points at the current value before the new point system becomes visible in the app on April 4.
Chick-fil-A One rewards program will add new rewards based on feedback, and the point requirement to reach each membership tier won’t change. Some of the point values required to redeem certain rewards will increase starting April 4. Other chains, including Chipotle and Starbucks, have recently made changes to their rewards programs. Dunkin’s DD Perks program also recently increased the amount required to spend to receive a free drink.
