A laptop has been reported as stolen from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Jeff Merkley’s offices. This took place allegedly during the siege on the Capitol by pro-Trump protesters. The Democratic House Speaker’s aid, Drew Hammill, reported that the laptop was used for presentations and was designated for a conference room, as reported by Reuters. He stated that Trump’s decision to use Facebook to condone the horrific behavior and actions of his supporters, instead of condemning it, has caused disturbance. President Donald Trump has filed two lawsuits against Georgia’s Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, over a leaked phone call that was posted by The Washington Post, per a report by RNC Chairman David Shafer. Nancy Pelosi has been reelected as Speaker of the House of Representatives. The 80-year-old Democrat won a close vote over Republican Kevin McCarthy. The vote was 216 to 208, in favor of Pelosi. This is her fourth time serving as Speaker. She was elected in 2007, 2009, and 2019. This is the second time Pelosi has served two consecutive years as Speaker of the House. Numerous GOP senators plan to object to the certification of the election results on January 6. This movement is lead by Sen. Ted Cruz, as the group claims that the November 3rd presidential election “featured unprecedented allegations of voter fraud and illegal conduct” per a report on Fox News. President Donald Trump vetoed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), but his veto was overridden by the House who took a vote on it. The NDAA previously passed the Senate with a overwhelming majority vote of 84-13, said to be “veto proof” (happened earlier in the month) but that appears to not be the case.  Senate previously voted to limit debate on it as well, with that vote coming in at 80-12 and only 60 votes were needed for that.
