At the Meta Connect showcase on October 11, the next installment’s release date in the VR game series, ‘The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners,’ called ‘The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution’ has been announced. Just wait until you see the chainsaw and the new weapons!
It is aimed by ‘The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners’ games to put players directly into the popular comic book series’ world to experience hordes of walkers and difficult choices all in VR.
To a mostly positive reception, ‘The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners’ was released back in 2020.
The game is often referenced as a strong example of what VR can do for gaming, such as creating a weapon weight system that changed the way certain weapons had to be held, said GameRant.
It has been confirmed for a while that ‘The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution’ will be coming to PlayStation VR 2, but actually that version of the game will not be released this year.
This year will focus on the Meta Quest 2 and the original PlayStation VR instead, as it stands.
‘The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution’ was confirmed back in January this year, and it is now less than two months away.
For the Meta Quest 2 and the original PlayStation VR, ‘The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution’ release date will be on December 1, 2022.
As for the PlayStation VR 2, that system is set to release in early 2023, so it is possible that the PlayStation VR 2 version will release around a similar timeframe, despite the confirmation for the PlayStation VR2 platform.
Unfortunately, there would not be backwards compatibility between the PlayStation VR and the PlayStation VR 2, Sony confirmed earlier this year. This means that the fans that only have PS5s will have to wait until the PlayStation VR 2 releases, while also waiting for the official release date of the PlayStation VR 2 version of the game.
As for the trailer, it is no longer than a minute, but the start of it confirms the player being referred to as the “Tourist” once again. Several weapons can also be seen in the trailer of the game, including an assault rifle, a grenade launcher, a close combat pair of knuckle blades, and even a chainsaw.
At the end of the trailer, a narration can be heard telling viewers that, “wherever the Tourist goes, death ain’t far behind,” and the trailer makes that clear with a lot of walkers and weapons to dispatch them.
The release date for the PlayStation VR 2 version of the game was not revealed.
Games such as ‘Skull’ and ‘Bones’ are also being delayed to March 2023, so we can safely say that 2022 was full of game delays.
So fans of VR games on the Meta Quest 2 or PlayStation VR will most certainly have a nice holiday season.
