Jerry Seinfeld is blaming the far left and politically correct woke people for the lack of good comedy. Jerry Seinfeld was giving an interview when he randomly pointed out this flaw with society that’s causing comedy to turn it down a notch thanks to people who get offended about everything and then spend all day complaining about it.
Those folks should shut up and just enjoy the good show. If they’re someone who’s offended at comedy, then don’t watch any comedians. Comedy should be off limits because we desperately need more jokes in America. We’re losing our way as a country and it’s not a good thing. Entertainment Weekly provided quotes from the Jerry Seinfeld interview with The New Yorker editor-in-chief David Remnick:
“Nothing really affects comedy. People always need it, they need it so badly and they don’t get it,” Seinfeld said. “It used to be, you would get home at the end of the day and most people would say, ‘oh Cheers is on. MASH is on. Mary Tyler Moore is on. All in the Family is on.’ You just expected, ‘there’ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight.’ Well, guess what? Where is it?”
Seinfeld continued, “this is the result of the extreme left, and PC crap, and people worrying so much about offending other people. Now, they’re going to see stand-up comics, because we are not policed by anyone. The audience polices us. We know when we’re off-track, we know instantly and we adjust to it. But when you write a script and it goes into four or five different hands, committees, groups, there goes your comedy.”
