FEMA is the face of scrutiny for quite a while, but things just heated up in a bad way and I’m not sure FEMA will recover from this one. Hurricane recovery in North Carolina has been going on for weeks, very slow, and some people are apparently living in tents. North Carolina already got hammered by Hurricane Helene, so the snow is just the icing on top of the cake Mother Nature baked for them.
But why is the recovery efforts taking so long? And why are people possibly sleeping in tents? Well, some folks lost their homes during the hurricanes and FEMA hotel vouchers reportedly ran out, as stated in a report on PJ Media. The Fox News reporter that showed up got some first hand interviews on how bad things are down there, and it’s probably worse than you’ve seen on the news. This is not how people should spend Thanksgiving, and I think the recovery efforts could’ve been a lot better, for sure. PJ Media’s report said:
Fox News’s Steve Harrigan was on the ground in western North Carolina, near the already hard-hit town of Asheville. Harrigan said the “first snowstorm here [is] underway, and these freezing temperatures really the last thing people in western North Carolina needed. If you see here, people were in these mobile homes. Those floors were torn out by the storm Helene, eight weeks ago, they were moved to hotels by FEMA. Those hotel vouchers for many people have run out, and now they are in tents after — eight weeks after this storm, and for families with small children, it is not an easy transition.”
Would the recovery efforts be better under Donald Trump’s leadership? America’s government is so fast to send money to other countries or waste it housing illegal immigrants, but why does it feel like the current administration puts their own people last?
