The physical copy of COD is nothing but an empty CD. Although it seems that the era or discs and cartridges is over, some people still prefer a physical copy, so they can play their favorite game offline. However, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II disc is just an empty CD having nothing on it but a link to a download.
Activison obviously felt that putting such a huge game on a disc wasn’t worth it. The download is 150 gigabytes, and games of this size usually don’t fit on discs. Even the Blu-ray ones are limited to roughly 50 gigabytes. Maybe Activision could have went with the multi-disc option, but that didn’t happen, according to TechCrunch.
Some people see this as a major downfall, mainly because they fear the loss of digital access or connection problems. Even if the internet connection is decent, some people don’t want to start their month with a 150-gigabyte download, especially if they have transfer caps.
CoD: MWII fans who preordered the game are far from having the full game on the CD.
The 72-megabyte program on the CD serves as an authenticator and shell to start the massive download. The majority of the 72 megabytes are nothing but 4K video files of logos.
It looks like Activision gave up on the disc idea, although it was possible in theory. Maybe the developer felt that that wouldn’t be the proper representation of all the hard work they invested in creating the game. Whatever the case might be, lots of the COD’s fans are angry and disappointed, claiming that shipping an empty CD is misleading.
When it comes to updates, that’s a different issue. Some of them are MASSIVE and COD had one already, reported GameSpot.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s release date has finally come. Infinity Ward has described some of the improvements made to the legendary shooter game.
Beta feedback is used to increase enemy visibility, and that is accomplished by placing diamond-shaped icons above the enemies’ heads. Because of this, it’s gonna be easier to spot them. Another thing that adds to the visibility is adjustments in terms of contrast and light.
The overall range of footstep audio has been adjusted in Modern Warfare 2’s most recent update to allow enemy players to approach targets closer before they can hear footsteps. The sound of teammates’ footsteps should also be lower for players.
Additionally, Infinity Ward made changes to the one significant drawback of employing the Dead Silence field upgrade. The field upgrade’s activation sound has been considerably reduced. In the older version, players were able to hear the opponents activating the stealth ability.
Modern Warfare 2’s UI has been improved in terms of the game navigation too.
Changes have been changed to COD’s third-person playlist, which now keeps players in a third-person viewpoint unless they shoot with scopes with more than 4x zoom. Until now, aiming down sights would immediately transition players to a first-person view.
Other modifications refer to weapon tweaking, player movement adjustments, and a decrease in lobby disbandment between rounds.
Activision has released a list of all the maps, killstreaks, and perks that can be unlocked on day one of the releases.
