This is why we can’t have nice things. Five polling places were getting bomb threats according to officials in DeKalb County, a section of Atlanta, Georgia. This took place about an hour before the polling stations were scheduled to close.
Voting was suspended at the locations until the police were able to confirm the area was safe and no bombs were found, as reported by AP. The report also stated that officials are seeking to extend voting time since it was disrupted by the bomb threats. The report further stated polling locations in two other counties faced bomb threats too, but they were false. AP quoted DeKalb elections director, Keisha Smith, saying: “rest assured that we are working quickly to ensure every voter will have an opportunity to cast their ballot despite these bomb threats.“
